About The Shot

This is a standard fouette shot. Loading the cue ball up with spin and pocketing the first object ball up table, the cue ball swings around a rack, goes three rails and comes back for a second object ball.

Stroke Around the Rack

Make This Shot

I put the cue ball two balls width away from the short rail, half a diamond out from the long rail. Bang it in to keep that spot. The first object ball is close to it, I like a gap around 1/4 inch. You may need to adjust depending on your stroke. The next picture shows how they are aligned, toward the long rail of the far corner pocket. Place a rack in the usual racking position, and another object ball in the near corner pocket.

Next, I aim across to the first diamond on the short rail from the far right corner pocket. I elevate maybe 30 degrees and aim to hit the cue ball at 10 o'clock or so. This shot requires a fouette or whip stroke. My best explanation is I get the stick through the cue ball and back out as fast as I can.

Once you figure out the gap, bang the object ball in too. Then you can always set these up and just work on your aim and stroke. If you hit the rack, aim closer to the far right corner pocket. If the cue ball doesn't curve enough, aim further from the pocket, or more elevation may be necessary.

Tim's Tidbit

The camera angle doesn't give the shot justice, but you can see there's a sharp departure from a natural angle when the cue ball comes off the first rail.
