Trick/Fancy  Beginner

This is a fundamental setup shot. The 2 ball squeezes between the other two object balls to go in to the corner, while the 5 ball gets thrown into the side and the 3 ball banks cross-side. If that wasn't enough, the cue ball draws back for the 1 ball. Learn how!

This is a neat little tray shot I picked up watching Robert Byrne's trick shot videos. The cue ball goes 4 rails, kicks off the tray, then heads up to the side pocket and knocks in the hanging ball. Learn how!

This shot is an extension of the smily face/slam dunk/half moon shot, which only uses 5 balls. The two extra balls form the bottom part of the question mark. In one shot, seven balls are scattered into six pockets. Mike Massey and Rick Malm call this Inquisitive, but I use this clip at the end of my presentations to invite questions. Learn how!

Here's another setup shot. On this one, the cue ball splits the two balls frozen to it into the corner pockets. It hits the top ball in the cluster, forcing it through to the side pocket while the two middle balls each kick another ball in to the side while they kiss in to the corners. This is another shot I saw Willie Joplin do. Learn how!

Bank/Kick  Beginner

This was the first trick shot I ever learned. I saw it when Charlie Darling pulled it out in Trick Shot Magic 2002. After pocketing the object ball the first time, as the cue ball goes around the table, I pull the object ball back out of the pocket and set it up to get knocked in again. Charlie added a bit extra by drinking a shot before the object ball got hit a second time. Learn how!

Bank/Kick  Beginner

This is the shot Stefano Pelinga opened with in the 2000 Trick Shot Magic. With all of the balls frozen to the cushion, I bank the 3 ball backwards into the side pocket. This is a great example of spin transfer to the object ball. Learn how!

On this shot, I shoot the cue ball off the point of the side pocket, going another two rails and pocketing a ball in the corner. On Kimura's video, he shoots two cue balls back to back so you see a mirror image of the shot at the same time. I'm not that good yet. Learn how!

Trick/Fancy  Beginner

Here's a setup shot that I developed after being inspired by my work for Radiant Pictures. There's a five ball cluster near the spot set up in a "Y" shape, hence the name. You may recognize a similar pattern to a four ball setup shot. In this shot though, all five balls go in and, if you do it right, they almost all fall simultaneously. Learn how!

No cue ball required! I shoot all the balls in to the far corner pocket, hitting the 3 first, then the 2, and finally the 1, but the 1 ball goes first, followed by the 2 and then the 3. I first saw Sebastian Giumelli do this shot on ESPN Trick Shot Magic 2003Learn how!

Follow  Beginner

The first part of the shot was invented by Paul Gerni for ESPN Trick Shot Magic 2001. Two balls are forced in to the near corner pocket, and one banks cross corner. The cue ball meanwhile, follows up the rail to pocket the ball hanging in the side. It looks a lot prettier if you don't catch the side rail first, but I didn't have the camera rolling during those takes. Learn how!
