Kimura's Wing Shot

Prop/Novelty Intermediate

Regular wing shots are fine, but it's even more impressive when you can control the cue ball after the shot. I roll an object ball down table, cut it in to the far corner while it's still moving, and have the cue ball come two rails to pocket the hanger in the near corner. I first saw this shot in the legendary Yoshikazu Kimura video. Learn how!

Tubular Draw

Prop/Novelty Intermediate

This is my adaptation of a classic tube shot. Two balls are propped in the air on coin wrappers. I shoot the cue ball into an object ball which takes out the coin wrappers and pots in the side pocket. The cue ball draws back, making the hanger, clearing the way for the two balls on the coin wrappers to split in the side pockets. Learn how!

Circular Follow Pinball

Follow Intermediate

This pinball-type shot is based on the Circular Follow shot. I first saw Andy Segal shoot this. The cue ball hits the object ball frozen to the rail, then curves around the blocking ball and is guided to the corner pocket by the short cue stick. The hit object ball travels around the table, pushing the longer cue stick out of the way, sliding off the rack and finally pocketing the last ball by the far corner pocket. Learn how!

Steamroller

Prop/Novelty Beginner

Here's a shot taking advantage of the giant 8 ball, which is initially propped up on a piece of chalk. The cue ball knocks the 8 ball down and caroms back to pocket the 1 ball hanging ball in the side pocket. Meanwhile, the 8 ball rolls and pushes the 3 ball in the side pocket, eventually following in (or as much of it that can fit!). Learn how!

Ride The Bridge

Prop/Novelty Intermediate

This is an old shot that I picked up from Sebastian Giumelli. The cue ball splits the combo off the side rail sending one ball up into the corner pocket while the other banks and is directed into the corner pocket by the rack. The cue ball kicks off of three rails and rides up the side of the bridge finally hitting the bridge head and knocking in the final object ball. Learn how!

Vodka Masse

Masse Advanced

Here's a prop masse shot. I masse into a vodka bottle, knocking in two balls, one of which is balanced on a shot glass on top of the bottle. The cue ball masses back up the table, hugging the rail to pocket a ball in the far corner pocket. This shot is one of Lukasz Szywala's creations. Special thanks to Jennifer, Jeremy, and Albert for emptying the vodka bottle for me. Learn how!

Tim's Twister

Trick/Fancy Beginner

Finally, one of my inventions. OK, perhaps my only invention, that Al Relf christened Tim's Twister. The three balls in the cluster are all frozen together, with two of them (the cue ball included) frozen to the rail. One of the object balls pockets in the near corner, one in the opposite corner, while the cue ball runs three rails to catch the hanger in the far corner. Try it, you'll like it. Learn how!

Two Man Weave

Partner Intermediate

Team USA pulled this shot out for the 2006 World Cup of Trick Shots. The cue ball weaves between a spaced out line of balls and the final hit sinks a ball in the corner pocket. Thanks to Al Relf for shooting this with me. Learn how!

Pelinga's Response

Stroke Intermediate

So if it's not a shot I saw Pelinga do first, it's one that was invented by Mike Massey that ended up being named after him. On this shot, I shoot the first object ball out of the way, the cue ball follows into the cushion, bounces around the blocker ball, and follows back down table to pocket the hanger. Massey invented this shot for the ESPN Trick Shot Magic 2000. Learn how!

Power Draw

Draw Advanced

Here's Mike Massey's power draw shot. Again, I use a striped ball instead of the cue ball so you can see it better. In this shot, I cram an object ball in to the corner and draw back 3 cushions around the table. Usually, this shot is played so the cue ball gets position in a 1x1 diamond square by the other corner pocket, but this is Eric Yow's adaptation where I use a rack to push in another object ball. Learn how!
