This is a fundamental setup shot. The 2 ball squeezes between the other two object balls to go in to the corner, while the 5 ball gets thrown into the side and the 3 ball banks cross-side. If that wasn't enough, the cue ball draws back for the 1 ball. Learn how!

This shot is an extension of the smily face/slam dunk/half moon shot, which only uses 5 balls. The two extra balls form the bottom part of the question mark. In one shot, seven balls are scattered into six pockets. Mike Massey and Rick Malm call this Inquisitive, but I use this clip at the end of my presentations to invite questions. Learn how!

All balls to the corner pocket! It's tough enough getting the 1, 2, and 3 to go into the same corner pocket, but the cue ball also draws back and catches the 5 ball as well. Learn how!

Here's another setup shot. On this one, the cue ball splits the two balls frozen to it into the corner pockets. It hits the top ball in the cluster, forcing it through to the side pocket while the two middle balls each kick another ball in to the side while they kiss in to the corners. This is another shot I saw Willie Joplin do. Learn how!

Here's a setup shot that I developed after being inspired by my work for Radiant Pictures. There's a five ball cluster near the spot set up in a "Y" shape, hence the name. You may recognize a similar pattern to a four ball setup shot. In this shot though, all five balls go in and, if you do it right, they almost all fall simultaneously. Learn how!

The story goes, Willie Joplin came up with this shot in his dream. I pocket all four balls in one stroke, the end balls splitting in to the corner pockets, one of the middle balls forces its way through to the side pocket while the other one banks cross side. Learn how!

This is another setup shot invented by Yoshikazu Kimura. It was named by Paul Gerni as Kyoto Freeway for the balls travelling in different directions at different speeds. Two balls split in the corner pockets near where I shoot from. The cue ball goes down and splits the other combination into the corner pockets while the final two balls slowly trickle down, following them in. Learn how!

A fan requested the basic version of this shot. I'll demonstrate two other ways to make it go. In the basic version, the two end balls split, one to the side and one to the corner, and the two middle balls go into the same corner pocket. Once that gets too easy, you can the middle balls around the table into different corner pockets. Yoshikazu Kimura demonstrated this on his video. Learn how!

This is a fantastic artistic shot invented by Yoshikazu Kimura and was put on full display by Stefano Pelinga in ESPN Trick Shot Magic. There's a five ball cluster by the side pocket. The cue ball spreads them out, two balls in the side pocket, one up table in the corner pocket, and two across to the other corner pocket. The cue ball then draws back for the hanging ball. Learn how!

I first saw this shot in one of Willie Joplin's videos, but never figured out how to do it until Paul Danno pulled it off against me at the 2009 Ultimate Trick Shot Challenge. The cue ball hits the five ball, sending it and the one ball across the table into the corner. The four ball caroms off the three into the near corner while the three ball banks all the way back up the table. Learn how!

Here's yet another variation on Tim's Twister that I came up with. The 3 ball flashes to the side pocket as the 5 ball slowly rolls down the rail. The cue ball meanwhile kicks off the side cushion and pockets the 1 ball hanging in the corner, clearing the way for the 5 ball. Learn how!

This is a shot made up by Nik Cleereman, a fan of mine. It's a slightly different version of Tim's Twister. Instead of spinning the cue ball out of the corner, it kicks off the short rail, caroms off a ball hanging in the side pocket, and follows down table for the ball in the corner. Learn how!

This shot involves a combination, bank, and a kick all into three different pockets on the same side of the pool table. I hit the cue ball into the 1 ball which combos the 5 in the corner. The 1 caroms and banks into the side while the cue ball goes three rails and kicks the hanging ball down! Learn how!

Another of Willie Joplin's creation. Quite simple really, one ball into the near corner, another across the short side to the other corner, and the middle ball banks to the far corner up the long rail. Learn how!

I'm posting this for Jaime, by special request ;^) This is a classic setup shot. The objective is to pocket six balls in six pockets with one stroke of the cue. Hit 'em and watch the butterfly spread its wings and fly! Learn how!

This is a classic shot made popular by Steve Mizerak in a light beer commercial back in the 70's. Two balls end up going in the side pocket by the cluster, and then one each in the opposite side and two lower corner pockets. Meanwhile, the cue ball runs three rails around the table to get the last ball hanging in the upper left corner. If you like this, you'll love the Double. Learn how!

Here's a slightly more advanced version of the Classics IV shot. The whole setup is moved back a bit and instead of going into 4 different pockets, we shoot all 4 balls into 2 pockets. The middle two balls go into the corner while the outside two balls go into the far side pocket. Neato! Learn how!

Here's a series of shots that will teach you how incident angles can affect throw on an object ball. The object balls are set up exactly the same for all three shots with only slight variations in cue ball position. The 2 and 3 balls split into their respective corners, but the 1 ball can be made directly in the side pocket, banked cross corner, or banked cross side. Learn how!

Here's a creative example of using the rack for a trick shot. The cue ball hits the 2 ball into the rack. The 2 ball caroms off into the side pocket while the rack pushes the 1, 3, and 5 balls across the table into their pockets. The cue ball finally draws back for a hanging ball in the corner pocket I'm shooting over. Learn how!

This is a nice set up shot invented by Paul "Book 'em" Danno and named by Renee' LaViness of Crown Cues. There's a four ball cluster by the side pocket. The cue ball bangs into them causing them to explode everywhere and then caroms off three rails to pocket the fifth ball hanging in the corner. It's a little trickier than it looks, but it's not bad once you get the hang of it. Learn how!

Finally, one of my inventions. OK, perhaps my only invention, that Al Relf christened Tim's Twister. The three balls in the cluster are all frozen together, with two of them (the cue ball included) frozen to the rail. One of the object balls pockets in the near corner, one in the opposite corner, while the cue ball runs three rails to catch the hanger in the far corner. Try it, you'll like it. Learn how!

This is a classic trick shot that resembles Moses parting the Red Sea. Some people call this the football shot. The cue ball blasts into the 9 ball which starts the 1 ball banking across the table. The cue ball caroms off into the 2 ball creating a massive chain reaction causing all of the pairs of balls to split open, clearing the path for the 1! Learn how!

Here's a great setup shot invented by a good friend of mine 'Jersey' Joe Bonge. Lots of balls are in action here. The cue ball hits the 1 ball, which combos the 2 in the corner. The 1 banks cross-side. The cue ball caroms off making the 6 in the side, then hitting the three ball cluster sending the 4 in the side, 5 up the rail in the corner, and the 3 is thrown across into the opposite corner. Whew! Learn how!

I learned this shot from Robert Byrne's Treasury of Trick Shots and parlayed it into a few points at the 2009 Ultimate Trick Shot Tour Championships. The cue ball splits the 1-2 cluster by the side, hits the rack pocketing the 3 and 4 balls, goes off the side rail and comes back for the 5 ball where it all started. Amazing! Learn how!

I've seen a lot of videos of this shot on the internet, so I thought I'd do it too. Four balls are in a straight line by the side pocket. The cue ball splits up the line with each ball going in a different pocket and then the cue ball banks of one rail and pockets a 5th ball in yet another pocket! Learn how!

This is a creative shot invented by Gordon "The Wolf" Hedges. The 1 ball is cut into the side pocket, the 2 ball banks into the corner pocket, while the cue ball travels two rails and kicks the 3 ball into the corner pocket that it hangs in.  Learn how!
