The same rosters from the 2008 World Cup of Trick Shots returned again to battle it out in 2009. The first semifinal matched up Tom Rossman and Mike Massey from Team USA against Stefano Pelinga and Lukasz Szywala. Szywala missed one of his early challenges, letting the USA take an early lead. Europe was only able to pick up one point on USA's challenges though, letting the Americans take an 8-5 victory. In the second semifinal, Andy Segal and Bruce Barthelette represented the USA against Ralph Eckert and Nick Nikolaidis for Europe. This time, Europe took the early lead. Team USA didn't do themselves any favors though, only picking up points on two of their challenges, virtually handing the match to the Europeans. With one point each heading in to the final, team USA took the initiative and an early lead off the first shot. They showed off their intricate teamwork on most of their shots where Europe was obviously less comfortable. Europe only picked up one point on USA's challenges which wasn't enough. Team USA was able to defend their gold medal in the World Cup of Trick Shots, 8-5.
