2007 World Cup of Trick ShotsNovember 1, 2007 | Mohegan Sun | Uncasville, CT
The 2007 World Cup of Trick Shots featured the reintroduction of female players into trick shot competition, 2004 Women's Trick Shot Magic champion Jeanette Lee and 2005 Women's Trick Shot Magic champion Ewa Laurance. Team USA was looking to defend their inaugural World Cup title, but team Europe had other ideas in mind. The first semifinal featured Jeanette Lee and Bruce Barthelette for the USA versus Ewa Laurance and Nick Nikolaidis for Europe. Europe took an early lead and the USA never took advantage of openings to come back until it was too late, eventually falling 9-6. In the second semifinal, Mike Massey and Tom Rossman took on Stefano Pelinga and Lukasz Szywala trying to get a point back for the USA. It was a tense, tight match throughout staying even until late when Europe pulled away a 9-7 victory giving them a huge two point advantage going in to the final. All four competitors contributed for each team in the final. It was a lower scoring affair featuring team trick shots, speed, and raw power. Europe stretched their lead to 5 before the USA started coming back, but it was too little, too late, and Europe dethroned the USA with a 7-4 victory to claim the 2007 World Cup crown.
