2007 ESPN Trick Shot MagicOctober 3-4, 2007 | ESPN Zone | Las Vegas, NV
Mike Massey entered the 2007 ESPN Trick Shot Magic looking to defend his title that he'd only won in pairs before. Unfortunately, he was thwarted early by a crafy Nick Nikolaidis, missing out on the TV rounds. In the other quarterfinal on their side of the bracket, debutante Matt MacPhail and perennial favorite Stefano Pelinga went toe-to-toe. Their match went all the way to a tiebreaker with Pelinga coming out victorious. On the other side, another first-timer Sal Conti upended veteran Andy Segal in the upset of the tournament. The last quarterfinal pitted two of the most entertaining and gracious stars against each other, "Dr. Cue" Tom Rossman and the Argentinean Sebastian Giumelli. Rossman was able to tame "El Matador" to reach the semifinals. In the first semifinal match, Sal Conti became the first contestant to make all of his own challenges. Rossman wasn't a slouch either though, making 9 of his 10 challenges and emerging victorious in the highest scoring match ever on Trick Shot Magic. The other semifinal pitted World Cup of Trick Shot teammates Nick Nikolaidis and Stefano Pelinga against each other. They each demonstrated some amazing feats with their shots, ending up tied 7-7. Pelinga found himself in his second tiebreaker in a row and used his experience to win on the $100 bill bank shot, earning a trip to the finals. The Rossman v Pelinga final saw the only two winners of Trick Shot Magic besides Massey duel it out. Rossman fell behind early and was never able to catch back up, Pelinga using an array of jump-masse shots to keep Rossman at bay. Pelinga won the match handily at 12-8, earning his second Trick Shot Magic title.
