2006 World Cup of Trick ShotsNovember 2, 2006 | Mohegan Sun | Uncasville, CT
The inaugural World Cup of Trick Shots in 2006 ushered in an intriguing team format to the world of trick shots, infinitely expanding the possibilities for new and creative shots. The format pitted the USA against Europe with the semifinals in a 2 v 2 format and the finals in an all-out 4 v 4. The semifinal winners would carry a point over into the finals. The first semifinal saw Nick Nikolaidis and Bogdan Wolkowski go toe-to-toe with Andy Segal and Bruce Barthelette. Europe took an early two point lead, but the USA fought back, eventually overtaking their opponents and coming out victorious in the end. The second semifinal matchup was Mike Massey and Tom Rossman agains Lukasz Sywala and Stefano Pelinga. Again Europe took an early lead, but Massey's stroke was failing him, and the USA never saw a lead in the match as Europe went on for the win, leaving the score 1-1 going in to the final. The final saw some dramatic team efforts as well as some creative prop use. This time though, the USA took the early lead, once stretching their advantage to five points. Europe tried to claw back but could only get within two before time ran out as team USA emerged victorious!
